Background
Julius Mbeya is an international development expert with over 20 years of experience in various roles and organizations in the development landscape. He is currently serving as the Co-CEO of Lwala Community Alliance, a global health leader in Kenya.
Prior to joining Lwala, Julius worked with MS ActionAid Denmark as a Regional Training and Development Advisor, and with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kenya, where he led grant-making and capacity support to local civil society organizations.
Julius has an MA in Political Science & Public Administration from the University of Nairobi, as well as post-graduate diplomas in Healthcare Management and Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution.

Currently the Co-CEO of Lwala Community Alliance, Julius has transformed the organization to become an international brand and a respected leader in global health.
Julius has a deep understanding of the non-profit and social impact space in Africa. He has provided thought leadership to the sector, giving a vital voice for social innovation, local leadership, advocating with funders and advancing trust-based philanthropy.
He is an astute fundraiser, deft in creating networks, engaging with governments and enhancing collaboration. He is a speaker on diverse topics in international development, a reader and published author.
Mission
Julius is a passionate advocate for locally-led development and trust-based philanthropy. His mission is to use his extensive experience to support and empower social impact leaders in their journey to success.
Through coaching, mentorship, and facilitation, Julius aims to help non-profit and social impact organizations overcome challenges, advance their missions, and create lasting change in their communities.
Achievements
Julius has been recognized for his contributions to social impact. He is a Mulago Foundation, Rainer Arnhold Fellow and was named Angel for Africa 2018, by Seagal Family Foundation, honoring his efforts in community building.
Julius was among the founders of I Choose Life Africa, founding working group member of African Visionary Fund. He has served on the boards of Blood:Water and Seagal Family Foundation, further cementing his commitment to the sector.
